First Bank and Land Bank of Taiwan completed the signing of a NT$7.2 billion (approximately $225.9 million) syndicated loan for Chang Wah Technology (6548.TW) on August 25, with the two state-owned banks serving as co-lead arrangers. The facility closed with a 1.45x oversubscription amid strong participation from financial institutions, reflecting the banking consortium’s high confidence in Chang Wah Technology’s operational outlook and growth strategy.

The loan proceeds will primarily be used to repay existing financial liabilities and replenish mid-term working capital, enabling Chang Wah Technology to continue advancing its global capacity deployment, product upgrades, and operational development plans while further strengthening the company’s funding schedule flexibility and competitive advantages.

Chang Wah Technology is a leading global supplier of specialized IC leadframes, manufacturing leadframes for IC packaging through stamping, etching, and electroplating processes. Its products are widely used across global semiconductor application markets including consumer electronics, industrial controls, and automotive electronics. In recent years, the company has been actively positioning itself in high-growth application segments such as AI server power management, robotics, and low-earth-orbit satellites, while simultaneously advancing expansion plans at its production bases in Taiwan and Malaysia to meet the escalating demands of the global semiconductor industry.

Benefiting from the semiconductor industry recovery and continued optimization of its product mix, Chang Wah Technology posted consolidated revenue of NT$4.32 billion (approximately $135.4 million) in the second quarter of 2026, setting a record quarterly high with simultaneous growth in both revenue and profitability—demonstrating solid operational strength and robust growth momentum.

In terms of corporate governance, Chang Wah Technology has earned the highest honor of ranking in the top 5% of the TPEx-listed group in the Corporate Governance Evaluation for two consecutive years, underscoring its outstanding performance in safeguarding shareholder interests, strengthening board functions, enhancing information transparency, and implementing ESG initiatives.

Notably, this syndicated loan—structured with the assistance of First Bank—marks the first time that sustainability performance indicators, including greenhouse gas emission intensity, energy management, water recovery rates, waste recycling rates, and corporate governance evaluation scores, have been incorporated into the credit facility framework, guiding and encouraging the company to accelerate its low-carbon transition and sustainable development.

First Bank has long supported lending to five trusted industries: semiconductors, artificial intelligence, defense, security and surveillance, and next-generation communications. In the first half of this year, the bank led multiple syndicated loans related to the AI and semiconductor sectors, ranking first and second in the syndicated loan market for MLA and Bookrunner mandates, respectively. Additionally, First Bank has deep roots in the ESG space, coordinating the ESG initiative platform for state-owned financial institutions. This year, the bank assumed the role of rotating chair for the fourth term of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission’s “Sustainable Finance Pioneers Alliance,” continuing to expand the financial industry’s sustainable influence across the supply chain, leading industrial low-carbon transformation, and advancing toward a sustainable financial ecosystem.
