Summarize this article with:

Bitcoin continues its rebound and is now approaching $72,000, representing an increase of about 15% since Monday. The renewed liquidity in the United States and progress around the CLARITY Act support the movement. On the stock market, companies exposed to cryptos are also benefiting.

In brief

  • Bitcoin almost touches $72,000, up 15% since Monday.
  • Strategy rises 10% pre-market, after 13% the day before.
  • The next on-chain test is at $75,689, the True Market Mean.

A Rally Driven by the Treasury and the White House

Bitcoin took barely 24 hours to move from $65,000 to over $71,000. It is now trading near the $72,000 threshold. Three powerful catalysts had already accompanied the beginning of the rise. Since then, two additional elements support the market: US Treasury debt buybacks and the return of the CLARITY Act to political debate in Washington.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent notably announced bond buybacks. This type of operation injects liquidity back into circulation and can favor risky assets. Bitcoin benefits: since Monday, its price shows a 15% increase, according to the figures compiled by CoinDesk.

On the stock side, the movement is just as visible. Strategy gains about 10% in Thursday’s pre-market, after already rising 13% on Wednesday. The company, known for holding the largest bitcoin reserve among listed companies, also has $4.8 billion in cash.

Coinbase also rises in pre-market, as does miner MARA Holdings. Bullish, CoinDesk’s parent company, advances 5%, after a jump of over 9% the day before. For now, crypto stocks remain closely driven by bitcoin’s recovery.

$75,689, the Level the Market Must Break

Bitcoin’s return above $71,000 allowed it to recover several levels closely watched by analysts.

The first is at $67,138. It corresponds to the average cost basis of short-term holders, those who have owned their BTC for less than 155 days. With the price now trading above this area, these investors are generally back in profit.

Another recovered threshold: the 200-day moving average, currently around $68,969. Often used to gauge the overall trend, it is again below bitcoin’s price.

Now remains a tougher level: $75,689. This corresponds to the True Market Mean, an indicator that attempts to estimate the average cost of bitcoins actually active in the market by excluding notably lost or long-immobile coins.

A sustained move above this level would strengthen the idea of a deeper trend change. It would also place a larger portion of active investors in an unrealized gains position.

In the short term, the zone between $71,000 and $75,689 will be particularly monitored. As long as bitcoin stays above $70,000, the rebound maintains favorable momentum. But the American political context remains a risk factor. Donald Trump is currently urging the Senate to advance the CLARITY Act. A new blockage of the bill could cool some of the current enthusiasm.
