The sector’s assets under management rose to ₹7.3 lakh crore, up 13.7 per cent from ₹6.42 lakh crore a year earlier
The investor base in India’s Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) sector rose 17 per cent sequentially to 6.53 lakh in the June quarter, while distributions to unitholders increased 15 per cent year-on-year.
According to data released by the Bharat InvITs Association (BIA), distributions stood at ₹5,923 crore in the first quarter of FY27, compared with ₹5,153 crore in the year-earlier period. Cumulative distributions by the sector since inception crossed ₹97,000 crore during the quarter.
Asset growth
The sector’s assets under management rose to ₹7.3 lakh crore, up 13.7 per cent from ₹6.42 lakh crore a year earlier. Market capitalisation stood at ₹2.97 lakh crore, while equity stood ₹1.98 lakh crore.
NS Venkatesh, Chief Executive Officer of BIA, said the growth in distributions reflected the sector’s ability to deliver consistent cash flows and create long-term value for unitholders. “What is particularly encouraging is that this growth is being accompanied by increasing participation from retail investors, indicating a broader understanding and acceptance of InvITs as an investment avenue,” he said.
The industry body said the InvIT sector comprises 28 registered business trusts spanning sectors including roads, power, telecom, pipelines, renewable energy and logistics.
