Bikaji Foods International Ltd on Thursday, through its subsidiary Bikaji Bakes Private Ltd (BBPL), announced a strategic partnership with Thayekunni Khaleel, a globally recognised bakery industry expert. As part of the deal, Bikaji Foods has transferred a 30 per cent equity stake in BBPL to Khaleel while retaining a 70 per cent majority stake, keeping BBPL a subsidiary of the listed parent.

The stock closed the day at ₹609.20, down 0.47 per cent, giving it a total market capitalisation of approximately ₹15,274 crore. The stock has underperformed significantly over the past year, declining roughly 23 per cent over 12 months against the Nifty 500’s 3 per cent gain in the same period.

The partnership is structured around combining Khaleel’s technical bakery expertise and global industry experience with Bikaji’s distribution muscle, retail footprint, and consumer insights in India. Through BBPL, the two partners aim to introduce international-standard bakery practices and products to the Indian market.

Deepak Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Bikaji Foods, said the Indian bakery category has significant growth potential and that the next phase of expansion would require both world-class technical capabilities and a sharp understanding of local consumer behaviour.

Bikaji Foods described the partnership as a forward-looking move that allows BBPL to pursue focused growth independently while the parent company concentrates on its core ethnic snacks and sweets business.
