AHLSTROM OYJ, PRESS RELEASE, August 25, 2026, at 14:00 EEST

Ahlstrom, a global leader in fiber-based specialty materials, today announced the commercial release of Grease-Gard® PLUS and Grease-Gard® PRO, two new products of the Grease-Gard® family designed to expand the offering of high-performance grease-resistant papers for the North American quick service restaurant (QSR) and food service market.

The introduction of Grease-Gard® PLUS and Grease-Gard® PRO represents the next step in the evolution of Ahlstrom’s food packaging portfolio, making it easier for converters, distributors and brand owners to identify the right paper solution based on application requirements while maintaining the trusted performance and reliability of the Grease-Gard® family.

As food service packaging continues to evolve, customers are looking for solutions that combine excellent grease resistance, reliable converting performance and support for their sustainability goals. The new portfolio architecture provides a clearer, more intuitive way to navigate Ahlstrom’s extensive range of grease-resistant papers, enabling faster product selection and specification.

Grease-Gard® PLUS combines the proven grease resistance of the Grease-Gard® portfolio with enhanced water holdout. It is also designed for recyclability, making it an ideal sustainable alternative to wax-treated papers for food service applications exposed to moisture or condensation. It delivers reliable converting, excellent printability and consistent packaging integrity across a broad range of wraps, bags and other food service packaging applications.

Grease-Gard® PRO is designed for premium food service applications where exceptional grease resistance and heat retention are essential. Engineered to provide an effective paper-based alternative to traditional foil bags and wraps, it helps brands reduce the use of aluminium while maintaining food quality, freshness and consumer experience. The product family is ideal for hot sandwiches, burgers, burritos and other grab-and-go foods requiring high-performance bags and wraps.

Both products support the industry’s transition toward more sustainable paper-based packaging while delivering the consistent performance converters and food brands expect from Ahlstrom’s proprietary grease-resistant technologies.

“The launch of Grease-Gard® PLUS and Grease-Gard® PRO reflects our commitment to making it easier for customers to navigate an increasingly complex packaging landscape,” said Travis Dahlke, Vice President, Global Food Packaging at Ahlstrom. “Beyond introducing two clearly differentiated products, we are providing a simpler portfolio that helps converters and brand owners quickly identify the right solution for their performance requirements while supporting their sustainability ambitions.”

Grease-Gard® PLUS and Grease-Gard® PRO are now commercially available across North America through Ahlstrom’s sales network.
