Thruvision Group PLC on Thursday saw its shares jump after disclosing a new contract with the Canadian government.
The Abingdon, England-based provider of walk-through people-screening technology said it has received its first order from a Canadian government customer, via its value-added reseller, marking an expansion of its existing business in Canada, which until now has centred on retail distribution.
“The 8108 WalkTHRU solution will be deployed at a municipal building to provide secure, efficient and respectful screening of visitors to the council chambers,” Thruvision explained.
It also noted recent orders from retail distribution customers across the US, UK and Europe, alongside a new government customer in Europe.
Thruvision Chief Executive Victoria Balchin commented: “This order in Canada marks an important milestone for Thruvision, representing our first Canadian government customer and our first deployment in Canada’s entrance market.
“We are pleased to be expanding our longstanding relationship with this Canadian partner, whose local expertise and support capabilities will be important as we pursue further opportunities with municipalities across Canada, alongside our established presence in retail distribution.”
Thruvision shares surged 26% to 1.54 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London, though the stock is down 3.7% over the past year.
