The XRP Ledger has surpassed 5 billion lifetime transactions since its launch. Popular XRP explorer xrpscan highlighted this milestone in a recent X post: “Looks like the XRPL crossed the 5 billion all-time transactions mark.”

Hussein Zangana (Vet) in an X post highlighted this milestone, saying, “5 billion transactions were executed on the XRP Ledger at low cost, settled in 3–4 seconds and consistently over 14 years. Looking forward to the next 5 billion.”

The XRP Ledger first launched in June 2012. Back in 2011, three engineers—David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto—began building the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Interested in Bitcoin, they sought to create a better version that solved some of its shortcomings—a digital asset that was more sustainable and built for payments.
