The network enters a new phase of supply management. Solana validators have approved a measure that accelerates the annual reduction of SOL emissions. This decision changes the pace of disinflation without altering the long-term target set. The vote also comes as investment products linked to the network attract capital. The results thus clarify the supply and staking rewards, as well as current governance choices.

In brief
- Validators approve doubling the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%.
- The terminal inflation of 1.5% is expected to be reached in about 2.8 years instead of 5.7 years.
- The measure could reduce emissions by about 18.9 million SOL over six years.
- US Solana-related ETFs already record about $1.7 billion in cumulative net inflows.
An accelerated reduction of Solana emissions
Validated by Solana’s on-chain governance, proposal SGP-0002, called “Double Disinflation,” raises the annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. It retains the long-term inflation target, set at 1.5%. The change affects the adjustment speed. The results show 67% votes in favor, 25.16% opposition, and 7.84% abstentions.
The overall participation reached 60.7% of eligible voters. With the new schedule, Solana is expected to reach its terminal inflation of 1.5% in about 2.8 years. The previous schedule forecasted 5.7 years. The required period thus decreases.

Over six years, the measure should reduce emissions by about 18.9 million SOL. This decrease limits dilution for SOL holders. Simultaneously, it reduces staking rewards for validators and delegators. The change creates a balance between supply and compensation.
Divided positions among major players
The ballot reveals differing positions among the key governance participants. Figment, with 17.1 million SOL staked, voted against the proposal. Conversely, Helius and Jupiter massively supported the measure. Thus, Solana players diverge on the evolution of emissions.
Kraken changed its position during the SGP-0002 vote. The platform initially voted against the measure at 12:33 UTC, casting votes below the required threshold. However, at the close, over 90% of its 8.9 million SOL voted in favor. This development confirmed the outcome.
This ballot also constituted the network’s first binding governance process. Voters also approved a draft constitution for Solana. Conversely, they rejected a proposal on resource and inclusion fees. Several topics were thus submitted to participants.
Significant flows towards US ETFs
This decision comes as Solana investment products listed in the United States continue to attract capital. This dynamic persists despite weaker SOL performances earlier in the year. The market observes the supply and flow of these products. These elements provide insights into the interest in the ecosystem.
The Bitwise Solana ETF recently surpassed one billion dollars in assets. It becomes the first product of this kind to cross that threshold, according to Eric Balchunas, ETF analyst at Bloomberg. This level highlights the capital accumulated since its launch. It coincides with the vote on the schedule.
In total, US Solana-linked ETFs have recorded about $1.7 billion in cumulative net inflows. Eric Balchunas notes few sustained outflows since their launch. The network combines lower future issuance and significant flows. Implementation becomes an element to watch.
The accelerated emission reduction changes the disinflation pace while maintaining the final target of 1.5%. For Solana, this evolution should reduce inflation and staking rewards. ETF flows add an indicator to watch. Upcoming data will show the effects on the supply.
