4basebio PLC on Wednesday saw its shares jump after disclosing a new strategic collaboration and marketing agreement.
The Cambridge, England-based life sciences company has signed a non-exclusive accord with Genezen, a Lexington, Massachusetts-based contract development and manufacturing organisation which specialises in viral vectors.
Under the terms of the agreement, drug developers will have access to 4basebio’s synthetic DNA technology, known as hpDNA, as starting material for development and clinical programmes.
4basebio and Genezen will also team up on commercial activities such as sales and technical presentations.
Christine Wolosin, chief commercial officer at 4basebio, commented: “This partnership reflects our commitment to pairing our proprietary DNA technology with partners who share our dedication to safety, quality, and reliability. Genezen’s leadership in viral vector manufacturing, combined with the growing demand we’re seeing from drug developers for our DNA molecules, speaks to where this industry is heading where synthetic DNA is becoming a critical enabler of genetic medicine. 4basebio is focused on giving drug developers a manufacturing platform upon which they can confidently build their clinical programs.”
Genezen is portfolio company of Ampersand Capital Partners LLC, a Boston, Massachusetts-based private equity firm.
4basebio shares were up 4.3% to 490.00 pence each on Wednesday in London.
