MRMIA Sets August Deadlines for Gold, Silver Bids

The Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority (MRMIA) has announced that bidding on several mining blocks will close between August 25–28, 2026, marking the latest phase in Egypt’s push to attract investment into its mineral sector. The deadlines cover silver and gold-bearing blocks, with extensions possible if dates coincide with public holidays.

The first bid to close is for block T6, a silver minerals block, which will close on August 25, followed by Block Be82, gold and silver, which will close on August 27.

Meanwhile, the bid for blocks Dc75, Dc76, Ec69, Ef70, Eg67, which contain gold and silver minerals, will close on August 28.

If a closing date falls on a public holiday, the deadline will be extended to the next working day.

Earlier in August, MRMIA set closing dates between August 18 and 20, 2026 for bids on nine available mining blocks including phosphate, gold, and talc,  located in the Western Desert.

In June, MRMIA launched an Open Blocks System offering exploration and exploitation opportunities across several mineral commodities. The bid round targets gold and associated minerals, phosphate, talc, and kaolin.

The Open Blocks System allows companies to apply for mineral exploration blocks at any time, without waiting for a fixed bid round closing date.
