Bitcoin (BTC) flirts with the peaks, but opinions differ. Standard Chartered hesitates on its 100,000 dollars, Cory Klippsten prepares the assault on 80,000 dollars, and Peter Schiff smirks. Between crazy predictions and skepticism, one question remains: will the queen of cryptos finally deliver on its promises?

In brief
- Standard Chartered revises its 100,000 dollars target for bitcoin by the end of 2026, judging it too conservative.
- Bitcoin at 76,844 dollars (+24% in one week) boosted by ETFs and short liquidations.
- 126,000 dollars in sight? The market already anticipates exceeding forecasts.
100,000 Dollars is Too Timid for Bitcoin According to Standard Chartered
Geoff Kendrick of Standard Chartered dared to doubt. In a recently shared note, the strategist admits that his 100,000 dollars target for bitcoin by the end of 2026 might be… too low. BTC boosted by short liquidations and the ETF recovery could even flirt with its historical record of 126,000 dollars. The irony is that in February the bank had revised this target downwards, from 150,000 dollars to 100,000 dollars.
Today, the market seems to mock these cautious moves. With bitcoin at 76,844 dollars and ETFs breaking inflow records, Kendrick admits:
For the first time this year, there is a risk that my forecast is too conservative.
Bitcoin Ready to Break the 80,000-Dollar Door?
Cory Klippsten of Swan Bitcoin has just sounded the alert in a chart showing BTC trapped under a psychological resistance of 80,000 dollars, like an angry bull still chained. However, with a 24% increase in one week, the pressure is rising, and institutional investors via ETFs seem ready to charge. But Klippsten is not fooled because this wall is not just a matter of price, but of confidence.
Because if bitcoin crosses the 80,000-dollar mark, then Standard Chartered’s 100,000 dollars might seem ridiculously low. Otherwise, it will once again prove that the crypto market likes to play with bulls’ nerves. And admit it, after so many false hopes, we would almost be surprised if it works the first time.
BTC? A Fakeout. Gold? The Real Value, According to Peter Schiff
Peter Schiff doesn’t change. For the king of precious metals, bitcoin’s rally above 72,000 dollars is a fakeout, an illusion. To him, investors who believe that an easy money comeback will boost gold and bitcoin are only half right. Especially since the Fed has lost all credibility in his eyes.
With gold at 4,600 dollars, silver at 70 dollars, and oil at 87 dollars, markets are betting on sustained inflation. And in that case, only gold resists. Bitcoin remains a speculative bubble, an asset with no intrinsic value. Worse yet, he even outright advises selling your bitcoin to buy gold. The irony when you know that BTC has outperformed gold by 1,000% over 10 years.
Between Standard Chartered’s perhaps crazy dreams of seeing bitcoin at 120,000 dollars by the end of this year, Klippsten’s warrior optimism, and Peter Schiff’s acidic skepticism, one thing is sure: BTC divides. So what do you think: a historic rally coming or a bull trap?
